'PAT' Testing

Electric Eel (Electrophorus electricus)

The term 'PAT testing'  is more properly known as 'In service inspection and testing of electrical equipment', but most people are familiar with 'PAT' as it relates to portable appliance testing.

In essence, the majority of such testing is careful visual inspection with electrical testing of the equipment being undertaken as appropriate.

There are of course duties and requirements relating to electrical equipment in the workplace, but these are often misunderstood or misrepresented.

A common misconception is that all portable electrical equipment must be tested every 12 months. This is not necessarily true and, as with many elements of safety, depends upon an assessment of specific circumstances and risk.

Our inspectors have a wealth of experience in health & safety covering not only electricity at work but also risk assessment and the provision and use of work equipment meaning we do more than just test!

Additionally, our inspectors are City & Guilds qualified to undertake in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
